Why are article summaries appearing in my feed, rather than the full-text of my articles?
Talkr uses either summaries or full-text, depending on what is included in your (RSS or Atom) feed. If you are seeing summary posts in Talkr, it is because the feed that Talkr is using is a summary-only feed. (Talkr never truncates full-text stories into summaries.) This can happen for two reasons:
- Your feed is a summary-only feed
- You have multiple feeds, at least one of them is a summary-only feed, and Talkr is looking (perhaps in error) at the summary feed
How to change your feed from Summary to Full Text
If you are using FeedBurner to manage your feed, then the summary feed could be created in two places: FeedBurner and/or your blogging software provider.
How to tell if FeedBurner is summarizing your feed
- Open your FeedBurner feed in a web browser
- Next to each story, you will see a message that says "[[ This is a content summary only. Visit <name of your domain> for full links, other content, and more! ]]"
- If you don't see a message like this, then FeedBurner is getting summary posts from your blog software.
- If you do see this message, then take the following steps to enable full-text articles:
- Go to FeedBurner.com and login to your account
- Click on the "My Feeds" tab
- Choose the "Edit" option under the name of your feed
- Scroll most of the way down the page until you get to the "Summary Burner" section.
- Unclick the check box and then click the "Save Feed Settings" button.
- Finally, open your feed in a fresh browser and check to see whether you now have full-text articles. If you now have full-text articles, you will need to ask Talkr to refresh your feed. Please click on the "Refresh this Feed" link on your Partner Account home page. If you still have summary-text, then you also need to configure your blogging software to send full-text feeds.
Configure your blog software to send full-text feeds
Most blog software has a simple interface which allows you to configure full-text RSS or Atom feeds. Here are links to instructions for several popular blog software vendors:
